“Remote Live” Technology for Yamaha Disklavier Instruments

Status: Previous Site Design

The first iteration of a simple yet feature-rich page to display the revolutionary “Remote Live” technology. When connected to the audio feed, live performances are reproduced on the user’s Disklavier. We are using similar functionality on the Junior Original Concert (annual event) and Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. live video pages.

Challenges

  • Created a ASP/jQuery event schedule to automate the Flash/HMTL5 video feed.
  • Integrated a mobile optimized remote control to override video feed from the shoot.
  • Real time Twitter feed, event calendar, chat, map of connected Disklaviers, etc.
  • Information is easy to understand so that any inexperienced Disklavier owner can enjoy effortlessly.
  • We are currently standardizing a company-wide event utility that will ultimately control this page and others like it.
  • OC Register Video: Playing a Yamaha piano from 2,000 miles away

RemoteLive (version 2)

Status: Live

The second itteration of an engaging user experience where consumers can connect their Yamaha Disklavier’s to our service which allows them to enjoy live performances reproduced in synch with our streaming video to the Yamaha Disklavier in their own living room.

Challenges

  • This site contains an events engine that stores and displays our live performance and rebroadcast schedule
  • I constructed the first version of this site myself using simple ASP arrays and functions. That site provided the basis for the current version which our team here at Yamaha constructed in .NET along with my HTML/CSS/jQuery assistance.
  • The final jQuery scripts we wrote update the events list in real time
  • Just prior to a performance, the jquery invites the viewer to join the broadcast
  • Broadcasts are currently presented in Flash video format only (restriction of our 3rd party streaming service)
  • Since our jQuery regularly polls the database for changes, we can update event data in real time without requiring the user to reload the page.
  • We are recently redesigning this site to incorporate On Demand video and streamlined connection instructions, intro video, etc.
  • AVENTAGE Receiver family of products landing page featuring a poster with links to all the products in the family, and an embedded HTML5 video introduction to the product line. At the end of the video, the poster reappears.

Challenges

  • Flash/HTML5 video optimized for iOS and Safari.
  • jQuery controlled “tabs” (large feature buttons) containing product features descriptions and pop-up images.
  • Engage the user in the product without taking them off of the Category landing page.
  • United Security Bank's CMS included modules on their home page for the various portions of their web site. Each area was fully editable and customizable by the client.

The Bank needed to update it’s look to a more sleek, professional feel. They also wanted the ability to distribute the maintenance of the site throughout the company rather than exclusively to the technology team.

Challenges

  • Implemented Graphic Designer’s Vision using Joomla Templates
  • Joomla CMS with extensive plug-ins for diverse uses including JavaScript tabs and slides
  • Training of staff members on the use of the Joomla CMS
  • The Smittcamp Family Honors College site was built will fully editable Dreamweaver Templates so that the client could edit any of their pages and maintain the universal look & feel of their site. Custom semi-transparent fly-out menus provide additional information about each menu item.

A new non-profit organization was formed and needs to get a web presence up and running before an important event scheduled to occur in Fresno. They hope to manage the site themselves with only basic understanding of blogging and email usage.
